Annual Members Ball and Xmas
Party December
8th, 2007:
This years Christmas party gathered over 75 member's children who all
received over $1,000 in gifts from the club and Santa Claus. We also
welcomed Mayor Jack Martins who presented the club with a Proclamation
and an address by Club Chairman Frank Ferreira. The club also helped
raise over $1,300 for Danielle Duarte, a girl recently paralyzed in a
car accident.

24th, 2007:
The Lusitano hosted a
fundraiser for local girl Julianna Martins and helped raise over $35k
for her medical costs through an auction of donated gifts from members,
local companies, and organizations. In attendance was Mineola Mayor Jack
Martins.
San Martinho Festival November
10th, 2007:
The Lusitano celebrates
the wine season's end with a glass of wine and some chestnuts as
relatives in Portugal cultivate the famed Douro and Ribetajo valley
vineyards.

The PHS
Lusitano closed out the summer of 2007 with a traditional Portuguese
feast, featuring Band Duo Mediterraneo, fadista Mena Leandro, Ranchos
Sonhos de Portugal e Aldeias de Portugal, and Aventino and Friends on
the Concertina. Children also collected $350.00 worth of soda can tabs
to donate towards the Julianna Rose Martins Charity Fund.

January 31st, 2007:
PHS Members turn out to
support a child in Portugal who suffered burns on his face in an
accident, the club helped raise around $15,000 for the boy and his
family.
